Beginning the new school year comes with a lot of 'firsts' in 1-G.
First time for all day, everyday (8:30 to 3:10).
First time for desks.
First time that cubbies get called lockers (without doors).
First time for new departmental classes (Science, Art/Shop, Computer Lab, Drama, SuperFlex (an in room curriculum that focuses on Social and Emotional needs of first graders),
First time with a new teacher.
However, it won't take long for the children in 1-G start to see their experiences as a stepping stone to a new journey they are taking that will help them become more independent, more responsible, and more confident about learning.
It is important for you as parents (you child's first teachers) get a sense of what is in store in the coming school year.
Without overloading you with a lot of words, I am hoping to put this information in a format that allows you to scan it through bullet points and brief explanations of our focus in math, reading, writing, and phonics.
I will be adding photos and some links to articles that focus on major topics of learning.
I'll send you a link every so many weeks to remind you of items I've posted but you are more than welcome to visit the blog whenever you have time. You can follow me through this link: www.bloggercom
